How to use a taxi(In Seoul)

When you live in Seoul, sometimes you have to take a taxi.
It's expensive, but it is easy and convenient.
When you do not know how you go to a certain tourist attraction, it's useful.

So I will tell you how to use taxis in Seoul.

1. Catching a taxi
If you hold out your hand at the end of the sidewalk, a passing taxi will stand in front of you.

2. Basic fare for taxi (In Seoul)
You remember the basic fare for taxis in Seoul is 3,000 won!!!

In Busan, basic fare is 3,300 won
In Seoul, Inchon, Gyeonggi, basic fare is 3,000 won
In rest, basic fare is 2,800 won

The basic fare distance is the rate measured up to 2km.
After 2km, the fare increases by 100 won per 142m.

3. When running slow, it increases by 100 won every 35 seconds.
The fare keeps rising when the roads are blocked, or when you are stopped in front of the crosswalk.
This applies when driving less than 15km/h, adding 100 won per 35 seconds.

4. Be careful! It is 20% more expensive from 00:00 to 04:00.
If you use taxi between 00:00 and 04:00(am), you'll charge 20% more.
It's very expensive!
This is the same in all areas.

5. Seoul → Other area  or  Other area →Seoul is 20% more expensive. 
If you use taxi between 0~4(am) and deviate from that area, taxi fares add up to 40 percent higher.
This situation, I recommend sleeping in a motel overnight.
Otherwise, your wallet will be thin.

6. Remember! get in the taxi and tell the driver to turn on the meter.
Sometimes there are expensive charges for foreigners.

It costs less than 25,000 won to get to Itaewon from Gimpo Airport.
To Myeongdong from Itaewon, it costs less than 5,000 won.
It cost less than 40,000 won to get to Seoul east from Seoul west.

It depends on the traffic situation, if you take a taxi in Seoul, you will never exceed 50,000 won.
